National Heritage Week theme set to honour nation’s rich cultural traditions and customs
‘One Love, One People, One Heritage’. That is the theme for National Heritage Week 2024.
The Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, Olivia Grange, in a statement shared on social media, says, the theme honours our rich cultural traditions, customs and contributions that make our nation unique and strong, noting that we are simultaneously celebrating our unity and our diversity.
The events commemorating, National Heritage Week include a Thanksgiving Church Service, on Sunday, October 20, at the High Holborn Street Church of God of Prophesy in downtown Kingston.
On National Heroes’ Day, October 21, the traditional Salute
to the Heroes will take place at National Heroes Park, where floral tributes
will be laid at the shrines and monuments of Jamaica’s seven National Heroes.
This will be followed by the Ceremony of Investiture and Presentation of National Honours and Awards at King’s House, as well as civic ceremonies in parish capitals.
