Hearing for the release of Vybz Kartel and 2 of his co-appellants underway at the Supreme Court
The hearing for the release of Dancehall Entertainer, Vybz Kartel and two of his co-appellants, is underway at the Supreme Court.
A habeas corpus application on behalf of the men is being continued, after it was adjourned on May 13, due to insufficient time.
Attorneys are seeking to have Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, Shawn “Shawn Storm” Campbell and Andre St. John, released.
The 3 men and Kahira Jones were convicted for the 2011 murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams.
The bail application comes, after the March 14 ruling by the United Kingdom based Privy Council, which quashed the convictions, on the ground of juror misconduct.
The Privy Council also sent the case back to the Jamaican Court, for a determination on retrial.
The habeas corpus application hearing is expected to continue tomorrow.
