Hear the Children’s Cry proposes Ministry of Family and Parenting to tackle violent incidents involving students

A Ministry of Family and Parenting is among solutions proposed by Hear the Children’s Cry (HTCC) to deal with violent incidents it says are affecting Jamaica’s children and threatening the nation’s future.

The group highlights the complexity of the challenges facing children in 2026 and is pressing for a dynamic, multifaceted attack on the daunting complex of violent dangers and alarming deficits affecting Jamaica’s children and threatening the nation’s future.

Director of HTCC Nigel Cooper notes that such a ministry would be required to meet in Cabinet weekly to focus on family and parenting.

Mr. Cooper stresses that children meeting their educational target is not enough.

He says students must also be socially adjusted critical-thinking graduates.

Meantime he reiterates the call for the ‘10 Year Disrupt Poor Parenting Project’ to be implemented.
