Health & Wellness Ministry appealing to citizens to maintain good order across Jamaica to prevent incidents that may add stress to sector
The Health and Wellness Ministry is appealing to citizens to maintain good order across the island to prevent incidents that may add stress to the sector.
This is after several hospitals were impacted during Hurricane Melissa’s passage last Tuesday.
The Ministry has been recalibrating resources to maintain access to essential health services as permanent facilities are restored.
This includes the establishment of an emergency field hospital in Black River, St. Elizabeth.
Another is being erected in Falmouth, Trelawny.
Speaking with IRIE FM News, Portfolio Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton said some hospitals are already overwhelmed with patients from parishes severely affected by the hurricane, so there is a need for order across Jamaica to prevent any added burden.
Dr. Tufton is urging persons, including motorists, to demonstrate discipline in their conduct.
