Health officials urge compliance with Jamaica’s immunization schedule amid yellow fever outbreak in neighboring countries

Health officials are urging the public to comply with Jamaica’s National Immunisation Schedule, following reports of a yellow fever outbreak in neighbouring countries.

Medical Officer of Health for Portland, Dr. Sharon Lewis made the appeal noting that the affected countries are experiencing relatively high mortality rates.

Dr. Lewis also reminded the public of the requirement that individuals must be vaccinated against yellow fever at least 10 days before travelling to any country where the disease is present.

She says prevention is better than cure.
