Health Ministry representatives and JMDA meeting over poor state of health-care system in western and southern regions following Hurricane Melissa
Representatives from the Health Ministry and the Jamaica Medical Doctors Association (JMDA), are locked in a meeting discussing the state of the health-care system in the western and southern regions following Hurricane Melissa.
The meeting comes after the JMDA raised concerns over worsening conditions at facilities in the region, particularly Cornwall Regional Hospital in Montego Bay, St. James.
The hospital, along with Falmouth Hospital in Trelawny and Black River Hospital in St. Elizabeth suffered significant damage during the category 5 hurricane on October 28.
JMDA President Dr. Renee Badroe told IRIE FM News on Sunday that she hopes today’s meeting will see conditions at the affected hospitals improving.
The meeting got underway at 9:30 AM.
