Health Ministry probes viral video in which woman claims she was denied basic necessities while admitted at CRH
The Health Ministry is probing an incident in which an American woman claims she was denied toilet paper and other necessities, while admitted at the Cornwall Regional Hospital (CRH) in St. James.
In the video, which has gone viral on several social media platforms, the woman can be seen attempting to take a piece of paper towel and being stopped by a nurse.
She is then heard asking for toilet paper; however, the video did not show her receiving the supplies requested.
In subsequent videos on her Instagram page, the woman claims she was denied drinking water and was not allowed to have visitors.
In a response to the incident on X (formerly Twitter) this afternoon (December 17), Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton noted that he has asked for an update on the matter to understand the context and circumstances.
He noted that toilet paper is always provided for patients – sometimes on request due to patients taking away the ones placed in bathrooms.
The Minister added that it is against hospital policy to do recordings in hospitals.
