Health Ministry invites community and faith based organizations, civil society groups to submit applications for projects under its C.A.R.E Fund

Registered community and faith based organizations as well as civil society groups are being invited to submit applications for projects aimed at improving health outcomes in communities across Jamaica.

The projects will be supported by the $500 million Community Arranged Response Efforts (C.A.R.E.) Fund, which was launched today by the Health Ministry.

Eligible organizations are encouraged to visit the Ministry’s web site and complete the application ahead of the July 31 deadline.

The Ministry said it will be hosting information sessions in each of the four health regions across the island to sensitize and assist interested organizations.

Speaking at the ceremony, Portfolio Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton said the fund is aimed at strengthening the social foundations on which good health depends.

Dr. Tufton stressed that health is not just the absence of disease, its also the presence of strong families, caring communities, supportive relationships and opportunities for individuals to thrive.
