Health Minister to meet with island’s public doctors regarding infrastructural challenges
Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton is to meet soon with the executive of the Jamaica Medical Doctors Association, JMDA.
This follows yesterday’s protest by the island’s doctors about infrastructural challenges plaguing the sector.
Yesterday, doctors wore black to highlight their frustration with the problems.
They say the issues have been happening for sometime.
They were highlighted, following reports that a surgery at the Bustamante Hospital for Children was put off recently, because of challenges with one of the facility’s operating theatres.
Speaking to Irie FM News this morning, President of the JMDA, Dr. Rene Badroe said the association was contacted by Dr. Tufton who stated his intention to have a meeting with the group.
However, the date and time of the meeting have not yet been decided.
In a release yesterday, the JMDA urged the ministry to take immediate action to resolve the ongoing and widespread infrastructural challenges, and said the association stands ready to work with the ministry.
