Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton suggests that women encourage their male companions to do annual health check-ups
Health and Wellness Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton has again called on the island’s women to urge their male companions to do annual health check-ups.
He made the appeal in Parliament yesterday.
Dr. Tufton noted that 66.3% of persons who have done health screenings under the ‘Know Your Numbers’ initiative were females, while 33.7% were males.
He encouraged women to use creative means of getting men to do their health checks.
Dr. Tufton noted that men tend to die 3 to 4 years earlier than women, and this should be motivation for men to visit the doctor and for women to encourage their partners to do check-ups.
He said the next best option is to have targeted interventions in areas where men congregate.
