Health Minister describes accusations regarding his alleged interference in operations of UHWI’s board, as unfortunate
Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton has described accusations regarding his alleged interference in the operations of the University Hospital of the West Indies, UHWI’s board, as unfortunate.
Two weeks ago, board chairman Wayne Chai Chong and his deputy, Dr. Andre Foote, both resigned from the board.
Following their resignations, Opposition Spokesman on Health, Dr. Morais Guy highlighted concerns allegedly raised by the former chairman, regarding ministerial interference and overreach in the work of the hospital board.
Dr. Guy called on the Health Minister to give a public explanation of his actions in the recruitment process for the hospital’s new chief executive officer.
However, speaking with journalists in Mandeville recently, Dr. Tufton said he would not discuss the issue publicly.
