Health Minister charges Dr. Barry Wint Memorial Scholarship recipients to develop mindset to administer care with compassion

Health Minister, Dr. Christopher Tufton has charged the Dr. Barry Wint Memorial Scholarship recipients to embark on a transformational process, which includes developing a mindset to administer care with compassion.

607 Jamaicans were officially awarded this morning under the 2.5 billion dollar, five-year initiative which will see their studies financed by the Government.

The programme aims to fill the gaps in the nation’s public health sector.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Dr. Tufton said healthcare and therapy do not start with a prescription pad, but with warmness.

He noted, however, that the current attitudes toward patient care must change before compassionate care can be truly administered.
