The South East Regional Health Authority (SERHA) has advised that the newborn baby who was found in the Corporate Area last Wednesday morning is in the care of the Bustamante Hospital for Children, and is in good health.

SERHA’s Regional Director, Errol Greene, says the situation was brought to the attention of the police and the matter is under investigation.

He notes that the authority is not yet clear as to the identity of the baby, or its parents, however, it is grateful that the baby was found by a good Samaritan.

Mr. Greene adds that the Child Protection and Family Services Agency (CPFSA) was made aware of the situation and is doing its own investigations.

Anyone with information that can assist the police in identifying the parents of the child is being urged to contact the nearest police station or the 119-emergency number.
