Head of the police’s crime portfolio says most of the country is safe
“Jamaica is the right place to live and the majority of the country is safe”.
That’s the declaration from Head of the Constabulary’s crime portfolio Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Fitz Bailey.
He was addressing concerns raised by members of the diaspora who say the country’s escalating crime and murder rate have caused them to be hesitant about returning to the island.
DCP Bailey explained that strategies employed by the force are working and crimes and murders are trending down.
He also noted that Jamaicans should expect to see further reductions in crime this year as the Constabulary continues to tackle the problem.
He was speaking at the 10th Biennial Diaspora Conference in Montego Bay, St. James yesterday.
