Hansle Parchment among best place Jamaicans in Shanghai Diamond League
Olympic champion Hansle Parchment and two-time World Champion Danielle Williams were the best placed of the 10 Jamaicans who were in action at Saturday’s Wanda Diamond League meet in Shanghai, China.
Parchment who contested the men’s 110 metre hurdles finished third in a season best 13.26 seconds behind winner, the American Daniel Roberts 13.12 seconds.
Williams, meanwhile was also a third place finisher in the women’s 100 metre hurdles with her time of 12.74 seeing her coming in behind Jasmine Camacho-Quinn 12.63 and Devynne Charlton of the Bahamas 12.64 seconds.
Megan Tapper the other Jamaican in the race was 7th in season best 12.83.
In the men’s 100 metre event Akeem Blake and Rohan Watson were 5th and 6th respectively in 10.23 and 10.29 seconds behind South Africa’s Akani Simbine who won in 10.01 seconds.
In the field events, Carey McLeod (7.93m) and Tajay Gayle (7.56m) were 4th and 9th respectively in the men’s long jump behind American Marquis Dendy who leapt a season-best 8.05m to end in first.
Christoff Bryan was 8th in the men’s high jump in 2.16m while Danniel Thomas-Dodd was also 8th in the women’s shot-put after a throw of in 19.08 metres.
Over in the women’s 400 metre event Stephanie-Ann Mcpherson was 6th in a season best 53.75 seconds while Aisha Praught-Leer who contested the women’s 5000 metres ended in 21st place in season best 16.36.99 seconds
