Hanover’s most wanted man now in custody, after surrendering yesterday
A man listed by the Hanover Police as most wanted is in custody.
24-year-old Towayne Gunning, otherwise known as ‘Tuffy’, a labourer of Rock Spring District, surrendered yesterday.
Gunning had been on the run since December 2023, following his alleged involvement in a murder in Green Island.
He was also allegedly involved in a shootout with police on April 2, 2024, during which he escaped.
He is facing charges for both incidents.
The police also identified Gunning as a person of interest in relation to several other gun-related crimes in the parish.
Investigations into these offences are to be carried out.
Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police Wayne Joseph, who leads the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Criminal Investigations Branch, commended the detectives in Area One for their outstanding investigative work, which he believes contributed significantly to these developments.
He noted that in recent weeks, several wanted men were apprehended across Area One.
