Hallgrímsson fed up with Bailey saga- Turns focus on those who wants to represent Jamaica

Irie fm understands that Leon Bailey’s decision to reject his call up to the National team for the Copa America tournament came after agreeing to be part of the squad on the condition that other members of the Phoenix Academy outfit are included in the National senior team as well as the National Under 20 squad.

This reportedly followed meetings with the JFF General Secretary Dennis Chung and the Phoenix management earlier this week.

When the squad which was announced last evening did not include Phoenix players Irie fm sports understands, it was at that moment that the decision was made to forfeit the agreement.

Bailey has not played for Jamaica since last November against Canada, and was subsequently suspended for the Concacaf Nations League Finals in march for breaking curfew.

The 26 year old then announced that he would be taking a break from the National team, but was named in a group of six forwards named in the squad for the tournament that’s scheduled to run from June 20 to July 14 in the United States.

Meantime head coach Heimir Hallgrímsson has had enough, and says its about time for the nation to focus squarely on those who wants to play for Jamaica.
