Gov’t medical consultants off job for second consecutive day; conciliatory meeting underway to iron out wage issues
For a second consecutive day, operations at some of the country’s public hospitals and health centres have been limited to emergency care services.
This as several medical consultants reportedly called in sick this morning.
This comes amidst frustration and anger over a delay in the payments of their retroactive monies.
The reported sickout also comes as the Association of Government Medical Consultants (AGMC) is locked in a meeting with the Labour Ministry.
IRIE FM News understands that clinic appointments at outpatient departments of hospitals have been postponed until further notice and elective surgeries in public hospitals have been suspended.
The Health and Wellness Ministry said patients will be advised of the new dates for their appointments.
