Guyana commits to rebuilding 200 Jamaican roofs post-Hurricane Melissa
President of Guyana, Dr. Irfaan Ali has pledged to help in the rebuilding of 200 roofs for Jamaicans, whose homes were damaged by Hurricane Melissa.
Dr. Ali was among Caribbean Community (CARICOM) leaders who toured hurricane ravaged communities in western Jamaica yesterday.
Dr. Ali who was speaking in Westmoreland said he is looking at kick starting the repair initiative, in the Whitehouse.
He said the aim is for residents to have some form of shelter by Christmas.
He added that Guyana will provide essential building materials, including tarpaulins, containers and chainsaws, with shipments expected this weekend.
