Growing concern about how U.S. will function amid fears over mass deportation of illegal migrants as Trump takes office today

With the swearing-in of Donald Trump as the United States President today, there is growing concern about how the U.S. will function amid fears over the mass deportation of migrants.

On his campaign trail, Mr. Trump repeatedly pledged to tackle U.S. immigration problems and enact the largest deportation effort in the country’s history.

According to Trump’s promises, the issue of migrants will be among the first order of business when he enters office.

With Trump’s official re-entry into the White House, many Jamaicans living in the U.S. are worried that an environment of fear and uncertainty may not auger well for the country.

Ian Campbell, who has been living legally in the U.S for many years, says though some illegal migrants have not yet accepted the severity of their situation, many are already fearful for the future.

Mr. Campbell says he hopes the implementation of any new U.S. immigration policy will be done with a reasonable and methodical approach.
