Ground broken for $2.4B Braeton to Naggo Head Road Project
Ground has been broken for the 2.4 billion dollar Braeton to Naggo Head Road Project in St. Catherine.
Construction of the three kilometre four lane road project is expected to last over 16 months.
Prime Minister, Dr. Andrew Holness, noted that Portmore is becoming a self-generating and self-contained economic entity, with businesses attracting employment, as well as entertainment.
He pointed to the increase in housing, noting that this growth, accompanied by the ‘locally generated traffic’, makes the building out of critical corridors in Portmore essential.
The project will include side walks, drains and other road infrastructure.
There will be a raised median for the four lane road and traffic signals.
It was revealed at the ground breaking yesterday that some land acquisition is taking place for the project and some utility poles will be relocated.
Member of Parliament for St Catherine South, Fitz Jackson said efforts will be made to minimize disruption.
