Grief counselling being provided to Annotto Bay Hospital staff after Nigerian doctor killed, 3 injured in crash yesterday

Grief counselling will be provided to staff at the Annotto Bay Hospital in St. Mary for the rest of the week after a medical doctor was killed and three others injured in a crash along the Castleton main road yesterday.

Dead is 36-year-old Nigerian doctor, Ebong Etti.

The injured doctors are of Nigerian and Ghanaian descent.

All four were assigned to the Annotto Bay Hospital.

In a statement yesterday, the board and management of the North-East Health Regional Authority (NEHRA) said it is saddened by the incident.

NERHA said all four doctors serve as intern medical officers in various departments as part of the conditions of medical internship at the hospital for about six months, demonstrating their unwavering commitment to the health and well-being of residents.

Noting that staff are in mourning, NERHA said members participated in a grief counselling session at the facility yesterday, and it will continue to provide ongoing medical evaluation and support for the injured doctors, and make psychological support available to the staff.
