Grenada joins inaugural Caribbean Drag Racing Championship, set to compete in final leg in Jamaica
Grenada has officially confirmed its participation in the inaugural Caribbean Drag Racing Championship which concludes with a thrilling final in Jamaica.
Officially launched in February 2025, the groundbreaking initiative features top-tier drag racers from Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Barbados, Guyana, and, most recently Grenada.
The championship, which has been designed as an invitation-only competition, features two competitive classes: Pro Street (10.999 to 10.000 seconds) and Pro Race (9.999 to 9.000 seconds).
It will feature a unique and innovative points-based system where racers earn points by competing in three of their country’s national events. These national events, staged in each participating country, will act as qualifiers for the ultimate showdown.
After being invited to attend by their national sporting authority, the top 16 competitors in each class across all participating countries will be invited to Jamaica in January 2026 for the final battle of supremacy.
The championship features two competitive classes:
• Pro Street (10.999 to 10.000 seconds)
• Pro Race (9.999 to 9.000 seconds)
Championship winners will receive trophies and prize money, with additional winnings awarded to the champion’s National Sporting Authority.
Jamaica’s own JMMC Chairman, Stephen Gunter, expressed his excitement about Grenada’s involvement in the championship. “We are thrilled to welcome the Grenada Motor Club to the Caribbean Drag Racing Championship. Their participation enhances the championship’s competitive depth and further strengthens our mission to unify and elevate Drag Racing across the region. We look forward to witnessing Grenadian racers make their mark on the CDRC stage.”
