Green challenges Jamaica Institution of Engineers to design storm resistant greenhouse solution
Agriculture Minister Floyd Green has challenged the Jamaica Institution of Engineers to work with the ministry, to design a greenhouse that can withstand strong storms.
He said this would be crucial in the event of hurricanes such as Beryl, which lashed the island with category 4 winds.
Mr. Green noted that a number of greenhouses in St Elizabeth, Clarendon and Manchester were damaged by Beryl and he hopes that the island’s engineers can devise a solution to the issue.
He noted that the storm resistant solution should be affordable to farmers.
