Grammy eligibility period closes Sept. 15
With music’s biggest night fast approaching, entertainers locally and internationally have two weeks to make their Grammy submissions.
This year’s eligibility period closes two weeks earlier than usual, running from October 1, 2022, through September 15, 2023.
In June this year, the Recording Academy, which is the organization behind the Grammy Awards, announced that only humans, not AI, can nominate their work for an award; citing that an artist can use AI in their songs and submit them for consideration for an award, but there must be proof that a real person meaningfully contribute to the song as well.
Other changes for the Grammys include the Recording Academy cutting the number of nominees from 10 to eight in the following categories, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, and Record of the Year, as well as Best New Artiste.
The 66th annual Grammys will also see the debut of three new categories: Best African Music Performance, Best Pop Dance Recording, and Best Alternative Jazz Album.
The nominations for the 2024 annual Grammy Awards will be announced on November 10, ahead of the live event on February 4, 2024.
