Gov’t urged to implement measures to help homeless and elderly, amid heat wave
Following an advisory from the Health Ministry for citizens to reduce heat exposure, a call is being made for the government to implement measures to assist members of the homeless population, to stay safe.
The call is being made by People’s National Party Councillor for the Whitfield Town Division in Kingston and St. Andrew, Eugene Kelly.
Noting that the ministry has urged persons to stay hydrated and avoid going outdoors, Mr. Kelly says members of the homeless population may have challenges following the safety guidelines.
Speaking with Irie Fm News, he said the government must take steps to protect the vulnerable population.
