Gov’t prioritizing expansion of Christiana Transportation Centre
By: Marlene Freeman
Transport Minister Daryl Vaz says the Government will be prioritizing the expansion of the Christiana Transportation Centre in Manchester.
Speaking during a tour of the facility yesterday, Vaz stated that the expansion is in response to the growing demand of taxi operators and commuters in the town.
He noted that a plan is being developed to extend the park from the rear of the Christiana Fire Station to the Christiana Bypass.
He also reiterated that he intends to have the park renamed in honour of former Transport Minister and outgoing Manchester North Eastern Member of Parliament Audley Shaw.
The Minister, however, did not provide a timeline for the project.
Meanwhile, transport and business operators in the park have welcomed the move.
Business operator Ray said the expansion is well needed.
