Gov’t finalizing petition to British Monarch to seek reparations for Jamaican descendants of slaves
The Government is finalizing a petition to the British Monarch to seek reparations for Jamaican descendants of slaves.
That’s according to Culture Minister Olivia Grange.
She made the disclosure while speaking in Parliament yesterday (June 13), noting that reparations would be a symbol that the families of former slave owners are sorry for the actions of their ancestors.
She said reparations would help repair the damage done during the period of Trans-Atlantic slavery.
