Gov’t continuing efforts to strengthen manufacturing sector
State Minister for Industry and Commerce Delano Seiveright says the government is continuing efforts to strengthen Jamaica’s manufacturing sector through tax relief measures, energy reform and broader improvements in the business environment.
Mr. Seiveright made the comments following a tour of Sanmerna Paper Products Limited, in Kingston.
Sanmerna is one of Jamaica’s largest jamaican-owned paper manufacturers.
He said the government remains focused on supporting manufacturers through initiatives such as the production equipment, and the Accelerated Capital Allowance Programme.
He also pointed to ongoing electricity sector reforms, including recently approved new licence terms for the Jamaica Public Service Company, aimed at improving efficiency, resilience and long-term outcomes for businesses and consumers.
Mr. Seiveright said Jamaica is positioning itself to better withstand those pressures through stronger infrastructure, faster post-Hurricane Melissa recovery efforts and continued engagement with the productive sector.
