Government reviewing proposals for the restoration and use of Vale Royal
Prime Minister Andrew Holness has stressed that several options are being contemplated as it relates to the restoration and use of Vale Royal.
The historical building has served in the past as a residence of government ministers, including prime ministers.
Concern was raised by the Opposition about the deteriorating state of Vale Royal.
In responding to the Opposition’s questions in parliament today (November 11), Mr. Holness assured that any decision taken about Vale Royal, will factor in consultations with affected residents of the surrounding communities.
Mr. Holness said the government is reviewing options presented by the Jamaica National Heritage trust.
Among the options being considered for the building is its use as an entertainment venue, a museum, and a protocol house for visiting dignitaries.
