Government removes Common External Tariff from fish feed to boost aquaculture
In a bid to boost productivity in aquaculture, the government has removed the Common External Tariff, CET, from fish feed.
The government has also implemented a programme, through which farmers will get free fry, otherwise known, as baby fish.
In his sectoral debate contribution on Tuesday, portfolio minister Pearnel Charles Jnr noted, a significant growth in the fisheries sector, last year.
He said efforts to stimulate more growth include, the creation of a special hatchery.
Mr. Charles Jnr noted further, that 15,000 baby fish, will be given to operators of 50 acres of ponds.
