Gender Minister, Olivia Babsy Grange, says the Government has proposed further strengthening of laws to include stronger and more appropriate penalties for domestic and sexual violence.
Ms Grange, who was speaking in Parliament yesterday, condemned violence against women.
She said a Joint Select Committee of Parliament has been discussing amendments to the Domestic Violence Act.
Ms. Grange said special units have been established within the Jamaica Constabulary Force to respond to cases of domestic and sexual violence.
