Government encourages police to increase efficiency
Members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) are being urged to focus on team work in an effort to increase their efficiency in the fight against crime and violence.
Speaking on behalf of National Security minister Dr. Horace Chang, earlier today during the annual commissioner’s devotional exercise in Kingston, Permanent Secretary Ambassador Alison Stone Roofe emphasized the impact of team work, while pledging the ministry’s continued support to officers.
The official crime statistics for 2024 have indicated that Jamaica recorded a total of 1,139 murders, last year.
This is 265 fewer murders, or a 19 % reduction, compared to 2023.
Mrs. Stone Roofe said she is hopeful that there will be even better results for this year.
