Government to develop plan to address windscreen wiping and other solicitation at major intersections
The National Security Council will convene a meeting with several government agencies and ministries to develop a comprehensive and sustainable plan to address the hazard posed by windscreen wiping and other solicitation at major intersections.
The move is in keeping with the government’s efforts to tackle all threats to citizens’ security and safety.
The increasing threat to life and property posed by mentally ill street persons will also be covered under the comprehensive and sustainable plan.
The plan’s development will involve Local Government, the Health and Wellness Ministry and the HEART/NSTA Trust.
Over the years, there have been calls from motorists for the government to address the issue of windscreen wipers and solicitors at the nation’s major intersections.
In some instances, motorists have complained that they had been assaulted if they resisted the solicitation.
