Golding scoffs at recent fertilizer reduction
Opposition leader Mark Golding has scoffed at the recent 4.5 per cent reduction in fertilizer cost announced by the government.
Agriculture minister Pearnel Charles Jr announced the reduction which is a partnership with Newport Fersan, on Thursday.
The reduction followed a previous 14-percent earlier in the month.
However, speaking at a National Executive Council meeting in St Mary on Sunday Mr Golding said while he welcomes any reduction at this time, that amount is still not enough.
He said with fertilizer prices having increased rapidly due to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, a 4.5 percent reduction is insignificant.
According to the opposition leader, increases in the cost of living have been crippling the population.
He reiterated his plea for the government to aid in cushioning the effects of the situation.
