Golding says government is taking too long to name new Finance Minister
Opposition Leader Mark Golding has criticized the government for not informing the country of who will be appointed as the next Finance Minister.
Speaking at a constituency meeting in Brown’s Town in North West St. Ann last evening, Mr. Golding noted that with just days to go before Dr. Nigel Clarke takes up duties at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), there is no word on who will fill the post.
It was announced in August that Dr. Clarke was appointed Deputy Managing Director of the IMF, effective Thursday, October 31.
Mr. Golding said the position should not be filled by Prime Minister Andrew Holness, whose financial affairs have been referred to agencies under the Finance Ministry for investigation.
