Golding gives government failing grade in relation to country’s economic growth
Opposition leader Mark Golding has given the governing Jamaica Labour Party a failing grade in relation to the country’s economic growth.
Speaking at a recent People’s National Party meeting, Mr Golding said despite having a ministry dedicated to economic growth, the economy has not shown any major growth.
The opposition leader referenced data from the Planning Institute of Jamaica which stated that the economy grew by 0.1 percent, in the April to June quarter of this year.
He said the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation, which is lead by Prime Minister Andrew Holness should get a failing grade, because it has not delivered meaningful growth.
According to Mr Golding, this is the reason for the country not having the revenue to improve the lives of citizens.
Citing the fiscal measures taken by the government over the past 4 years, Mr. Golding said the expectation is that by now, Jamaicans would be benefiting from them.
