GoFundMe launched in aid of Lieutenant Stitchie
A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to raise funds for reggae and dancehall icon Cleveland Laing more popular known as Lieutenant Stitchie.
The GoFundMe campaign organized by Sophia Laing, in a synopsis shared that the legendary entertainer recently suffered a severe brain haemorrhage that left him unresponsive.
The statement further revealed that Stitchie needed help in a long-term care facility where he would be provided with rehabilitation care and appealed for support by way of donations to cover transfer, medical care and living expenses in the home.
The GoFundMe at news time had reached one thousand and sixty USD out of a one hundred thousand USD target.
Stitchie, who left dancehall for the church in 1997 is described as the Lexicon of reggae and dancehall music, he is credited as a gifted lyrical genius, with a superb and fast-talking unique style. In a 2019 interview, he shared that in one calendar year he had fourteen number one songs. His matchless storytelling abilities, combined with his powerful vocal delivery makes his songs like Wear Yuh Size, Shopping, Natty Dread, Great Ambition and countless others, classical hits, still relatable in this era.
Efforts to reach Sophia Laing or a member of Lt. Stitchie’s team for more details proved futile.
