Global Union, Education International pledges support to JTA, as organisation deals with various challenges
Education International (E.I.) is standing in solidarity with the Jamaica Teachers Association (JTA), as the organisation deals with the various challenges facing the sector.
E.I. is a global union federation that represents organisations of teachers and other education employees across the world.
It represents over 32,000,000 members, in 178 countries.
President of E.I., Dr. Mugwena Maluleke, highlighted teacher shortage among the significant challenges facing the Jamaican education sector.
Dr. Maluleke, who is also General Secretary of the South African Democratic Teachers Union, says E.I. is willing to assist with addressing the challenges by providing tool kits.
He was addressing the opening session of the JTA’s 60th anniversary conference.
The conference, which ends today, is being held under the theme : Preserving the Legacy, Remaining Relevant for the Future.
