Giannis Antetokounmpo overall leader in NBA All-Star voting

Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo and three-time MVP Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets lead the Eastern and Western Conferences, respectively, in the first round of voting for the 2025 NBA All-Star Game released on Thursday.

Antetokounmpo, the former two-time MVP, has the most overall votes with 1.71 million while Jokic ranks second with 1.42 million.

Joining Jokic (West frontcourt) and Antetokounmpo (East frontcourt) as top vote-getters at their respective position groups are Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander with 1.05 million in the West (ahead of Luka Doncic and Steph Curry) and Charlotte Hornets point guard LaMelo Ball who has just under a million votes in the East.

Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant ranks second in the West front-court with 1.27 million votes, with LA Lakers forward LeBron James third with 1.17 million.

In the East, Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum is second in the conference with 1.38 million votes while New York Knicks center Karl-Anthony Towns has the third starting spot with just over 1 million votes.

The totals will be updated again on January 9 and January 16, with voting slated to conclude on Monday, January 20.

Fans account for 50 percent of the vote to determine the starters for the NBA All-Star Game, scheduled for February 16 at the Chase Center in San Francisco.

The starters for both conferences will be announced January 23, and the reserves will be unveiled a week later.
