Governor-General Sir Patrick Allen is now recovering after successfully undergoing elective spinal surgery on Monday.

In providing an update this afternoon, his office said Sir Patrick expressed his deepest gratitude to the University Hospital of the West Indies and the staff of the Tony Thwaites Wing.

Sir Patrick also thanked the Jamaican people for their prayers, well wishes and support.

The Governor-General’s office said that as he continues to recover, he looks forward to resuming his duties and continuing his service to the nation.

Custos Rotulorum for Kingston, Steadman Fuller, will deputize during the Governor-General’s recovery.
