History  will  be  made  on  May  7  when  the  first  ever  local  High  School  Boxing  event  will  be  staged at  the GC  Foster  College.

Dubbed ‘the  GC  Foster  Boxing  Fiesta’, the  one  night  event  will  see  nine  bouts  on  the  card , with some 18 fighters in action at  the  GC  Foster  College  Quadrangle. 

Entrants from St Andrew Technical, Ferncourt High School, and Calabar will be on show, with youth age group fighters from the Jamaica Defence Force and Montego Bay national gym also in action. 

The one night event, is sanctioned by the Jamaica Boxing Board, and forms the early part of the board’s plan to have sustained  high school boxing competition by next year . 

Meanwhile, Jamaica Olympic Association President Christopher Samuda, told Irie Fm Sports at Tuesday’s launch that the JOA “fully supports the initiative “.
