FWCF urges review of Child Care Act to better protect children from sexualized public content

The Fi We Children Foundation (FWCF) is calling on lawmakers to review the Child Care and Protection Act to better protect children from inappropriate sexualized content in public spaces.

The comment comes after a controversial billboard, was removed in Rockfort, St. Andrew at the weekend following widespread public disapproval.

Citizens made several videos which have gone viral on social media, to raise concern about the billboard, which they describe as “lewd” and “offensive”.

Speaking with IRIE FM News, FWCF Consultant and Attorney-at-Law Kayla Wright said the situation provides an opportunity for policymakers to better regulate marketing and advertising within and around school zones.

Ms. Wright said the situation also highlights the need for more responsible advertising practices by companies.
