Funeral date announced for Sumfest Founder Robert Russell

The entertainment and business communities are set to pay their final respects to the late Robert Russell in January 2024.

The wake for the late Jazz and Blues Festival producer will be held on January 7, 2025, at his popular Montego Bay eatery Pier One while the funeral service will be held at the Montego Bay Convention Centre, Rose Hall St James on Thursday January 8, 2025.

The late Businessman is said to have left an indelible mark on Jamaica’s cultural landscape. In paying tribute to the tourism stalwart Minister of Tourism, Hon. Edmund Bartlett, expressed deep sorrow describing him as a true pioneer and a force to be reckoned with in the tourism, film, and entertainment industries. Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport Olivia Grange hailed Russell as a trailblazer while Prime Minister Andrew Holness acknowledged Russell’s invaluable contributions to promoting Brand Jamaica globally.

Russell who was the founder of Reggae Sumfest died on December 11, 2024 he was 76 years old.
