Funds from JPL Broadcast Deal to Benefit Clubs
Football fans across Jamaica and the Caribbean will soon have more ways to watch and engage with the Wray and Nephew Jamaica Premier League (JPL), following confirmation of a multi-year broadcast partnership with Jamaican-owned strategic brand identity development agency, PPIVOTT.
The announcement was made during a virtual press conference on Wednesday, where league officials revealed that funds generated from the arrangement will be channeled back to the clubs—a move expected to strengthen the overall development of the league.
The extensive broadcast deal will cover over 160 matches across 80 game days, with live broadcasts every Sunday and Monday for 43 weeks. As part of the agreement, 1LuvTV, powered by Kiswe, a global leader in direct-to-consumer (D2C) streaming technology, will make its debut as the global streaming home of the JPL. Matches will also be carried on select free-to-air and cable channels locally and across the region, ensuring widespread access for supporters.
Coverage begins this Sunday, September 14, with Match Day 4 headlined by a blockbuster clash between two-time defending champions Cavalier and Mount Pleasant, beaten finalists for the past two seasons. The matchup will serve as a repeat of the last two finals and is expected to draw significant attention from fans.
Going into the round, Chapelton Maroons lead the standings with a perfect record of nine points from three games.
League officials noted that the innovative broadcast package will not only expand the reach of Jamaica’s top-flight football but also allow fans to watch, click, and interact with the action in new ways—ushering in a more dynamic era for the JPL.
