Fraser-Pryce, Thompson lead Jamaica’s star-studded squad for World Championships in Tokyo
Sprint legend Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Olympic silver medalist Kishane Thompson headline Jamaica’s squad named by the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) for the World Athletics Championships, set for September 13–21 in Tokyo, Japan.
The delegation, which blends seasoned champions with emerging stars, will represent the island across track and field disciplines.
Fraser-Pryce and Shericka Jackson headline the women’s 100m roster which features Tina Clayton, while the men’s side will be spearheaded by Thompson – the fastest man in 2025 – Oblique Seville, and Akeem Blake.
In the 200m, Jackson doubles up alongside Gabrielle Matthews and Ashanti Moore, while the men’s team features Adrian Kerr, Bryan Levell, and Christopher Taylor.
Jamaica will also field strong relay teams, with the Clayton twins (Tia & Tina), Fraser-Pryce, and Jackson in the pool for the women’s 4x100m, while the men’s 4x100m squad includes Blake, Seville, Thompson, and Rohan Watson.
The 4x400m and mixed relay teams boast depth, with athletes such as Nickisha Pryce, Stacey-Ann Williams, Antonio Watson, and Rusheen McDonald available for selection.
Hurdles
- Women’s 100m Hurdles: Ackera Nugent, Megan Tapper, Danielle Williams, Amoi Brown
- Men’s 110m Hurdles: Orlando Bennett, Tyler Mason, Demario Prince.
- Women’s 400m Hurdles: Rushell Clayton, Andrenette Knight, Shiann Salmon
- Men’s 400m Hurdles: Roshawn Clarke, Malik James-King, and Assinie Wilson

Natoya Goule-Toppin and Kelly Ann Beckford are down for the women’s 800m alongside middle-distance specialist Adelle Tracey who is down to contest both the 800m and 1500m, while the island will be represented by national record holder Navasky Anderson and Tyrice Taylor in the men’s 800m.

- Jumps: Olympic champion Tajay Gayle, Carey McLeod, and Nikoali Williams in the men’s long jump. Ackelia Smith doubles in the women’s long and triple jumps alongside Olympic silver medalist Shanieka Ricketts.
- High Jump: Lamara Distin, Romaine Beckford, and Raymond Richards.
- Throws: Samantha Hall, Fedrick Dacres, Ralford Mullings, and Chad Wright in discus; Lloydricia Cameron in shot put; Nayoka Clunis in hammer throw.
Relay Teams
- Women’s 4x100m: Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Shericka Jackson, Tia and Tina Clayton.
- Men’s 4x100m: Ackeem Blake, Oblique Seville, Kishane Thompson, Rohan Watson.

Relay line-ups will be finalized at the discretion of the technical leader.

The list of reserves includes Jodean Williams, Hansle Parchment, Kerrica Hill, Ryiem Forde, Shawn D. Thompson, Leah Anderson, and Sanique Walker. These athletes will only be called upon if required.
The delegation will be managed by Ian Forbes, with Maurice Wilson serving as Technical Leader. The coaching panel includes respected names such as Bertland Cameron, Paul Francis, Michael Frater, Lacena Golding Clarke, and Julian Robinson. Medical and therapy support will be provided by a team of doctors, physiotherapists, and massage therapists.
