Fraser McConnell returns to RallyX Euro League for first time in four years
Jamaican rallycross driver Fraser McConnell is set to make his anticipated return to the RallyX Euro League this March, as he suits up for Olsbergs MSE at the opening round in Montalegre, Portugal, on March 29-30.
This marks McConnell’s first appearance in the competition in four years, and sees him reunite with the OMSE team that has played a key role in his motorsport journey.
“I’m really excited to be back,” McConnell shared. “When I started in RallyX Nordic, it was my first time stepping into the big Supercar category. I competed alongside the Erikssons and OMSE, so it feels special to go back to my rallycross roots with them.”
The Jamaican driver will take to the track in the First Corner FC2 car, joining a competitive Open 4WD class that is expected to draw a strong entry list for the season opener. McConnell, who previously raced for Olsbergs MSE in 2020 and 2021, has fond memories of his time with the team, particularly his close bond with the Eriksson family.
“The Erikssons are like my Swedish family,” McConnell explained. “I lived with them for six months during COVID, and we really got close. It’s a fantastic environment, and I can’t wait to get back to racing with them again.”
McConnell made his mark in the RallyX Euro League during his previous stint with Olsbergs MSE, finishing second in the standings in both 2020 and 2021. He secured his first-ever final victory at Nysum in 2021 in the Open 4WD category. Afterward, McConnell shifted his focus to racing in the United States, where he enjoyed success in Supercar events, earning multiple top-five finishes.

With this upcoming return to the Euro League, McConnell will now experience his first race behind the wheel of an FC2—though it’s not entirely uncharted territory for him.
“While this will be my first time racing the FC2, I’ve spent a lot of time in the SuperCar Lites, which are the foundation of the FC2,” McConnell said. “So, I’m confident I’ll be able to get up to speed quickly.”
While McConnell has not raced at the Circuito Internacional de Montalegre in person, he has been able to prepare for the unique challenges of the Portuguese circuit through sim racing, taking multiple laps on the track in the virtual world as part of his driver training.
“The only thing I know about Montalegre is from watching videos and playing the sims,” he admits. “I’ve never been to Portugal, so that will be a new experience for me. But the track looks incredible! It’s one of the more iconic rallycross venues, with huge curbs and long, sweeping corners. I’m really looking forward to carrying huge speed through those corners—that’s going to be a lot of fun.”
The 2025 RallyX season will span 13 rounds, culminating in a grand finale in Germany on August 9-10.
