Fowler-Reid outshines Aiken-George as West Coast Fever top Suncorp Super Netball table

In a highly anticipated Round 11 showdown of Jamaican netball stars, Sunshine Girls captain Jhaniele Fowler-Reid led the West Coast Fever to a gritty 68-63 victory over defending champions Adelaide Thunderbirds, getting the better of international teammate Romelda Aiken-George in the process.

The win propelled the in-form Fever to the top of the Suncorp Super Netball League standings in Australia, extending their impressive winning streak to a league-best nine games.

Fowler-Reid was once again a dominant force in the circle, finishing with a game-high 63 goals from 68 attempts, including one Super Shot, alongside three rebounds and an assist.

On the opposing end, Aiken-George had a solid showing for the Thunderbirds, netting 41 goals from 46 attempts, but it wasn’t enough to stave off the Fever’s relentless pressure, particularly in the closing stages.

With the result, West Coast now sit four points clear at the top on 36 points from 11 games, ahead of the second-placed NSW Swifts, who host local rivals GIANTS Netball at Ken Rosewall Arena in Sydney.

The loss leaves Adelaide just outside the playoff spots in fifth place on 20 points, putting pressure on their remaining fixtures as the race for the top four intensifies.

Round 11 action wraps up on Sunday with Sunshine Girl Shimona Jok set to feature for the Melbourne Mavericks in their clash against the Queensland Firebirds.
