Fowler-Nembhard fires West Coast Fever into Suncorp Super Netball Grand Final

Sunshine Girls star Jhaniele Fowler-Nembhard delivered yet another world-class performance to lead the West Coast Fever to the 2025 Suncorp Super Netball Grand Final with a dominant 77–45 victory over the NSW Swifts in the Major Semifinal at RAC Arena in Perth.

Fowler-Nembhard was virtually unstoppable, netting a game-high 65 goals from 66 attempts, including a super shot, for an extraordinary 98 per cent shooting accuracy. Her commanding presence in the goal circle helped the Fever cruise to a 32-goal win and secure a direct berth in the championship showdown set for Saturday, August 2 at Rod Laver Arena.

Fever Take Control Early

The match began with a quick goal from the Swifts’ Grace Nweke, but it was the Fever who quickly asserted control. By the end of the first quarter, the scoreboard read 20–11 in favour of the home team.

Fever’s defensive pairing of Kadie-Ann Dehaney and Sunday Aryang applied immense pressure throughout the match, limiting the effectiveness of Swifts shooters Nweke and Helen Housby. Dehaney was a standout with four gains and an intercept, while Aryang’s relentless work on the circle edge disrupted the Swifts’ rhythm.

Second Quarter Surge Seals It

Fever broke the game wide open in the second quarter, outscoring the Swifts 26–9 to take a commanding 46–20 lead into halftime. Fowler-Nembhard was in sublime form, tallying 44 goals by the break.

She was supported by fellow Jamaican international Shanice Beckford, who converted four of her five attempts and dished out 17 goal assists in an energetic performance at goal attack.

Full-Court Domination

The Fever continued their dominance in the second half, extending their lead to 63–35 by the end of the third quarter before closing out the match 77–45. Their full-court pressure was relentless, with Jess Anstiss, Aryang, Dehaney, and Zoe Cransberg all contributing crucial deflections and intercepts.

Finals debutante Olivia Wilkinson added flair in the last quarter, scoring four goals and a super shot to leave her mark on the match.

With the emphatic win, the Fever have booked their spot in the 2025 Grand Final, where they will face the winner of the preliminary final between the Swifts and the Melbourne Vixens who cemented their spot after battling to a hard-fought 58-56 win against two-time defending champions Adelaide Thunderbirds in the Minor Semifinal.
