Four more schools to be taken off the shift system effective Sept. 2

Four more schools will be removed from the shift system in the new academic year, which will begin tomorrow.

They are Ocho Rios Primary in St. Ann, Naggo Head Primary and Bridgeport High in St. Catherine, and Papine High in St. Andrew.

The Education Ministry has indicated that 31 schools remain on the shift system. Of that number, 13 are primary and 18 are secondary schools.

While giving an update on repair works on schools damaged by hurricane beryl last week, education minister Fayval Williams revealed that Bridgeport High is able to get off the shift system, because temporary space was found for classrooms.

Meantime, come Monday morning, the Minister will be at the Ocho Rios Primary school, for its official de-shifting ceremony.

The school has been preparing for the change, since principal Suzette Barnes Wilson announced it earlier this month, during a parent/teacher meeting.
